Carbon Disclosure Project
CDP
The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an indepen-
dent non-profit organization that maintains the largest
database of corporate management of greenhouse
gas emissions, including monitoring and reporting.
CDP conducts an annual survey of the world’s largest
companies’ performance in respect of climate change
and greenhouse gas emissions. The information that
companies provide is used by investors to assess com-
panies’ management of risks and opportunities related
to climate change.
• The employee satisfaction survey for the entire group re-
ported an improvement from 74 points in 2011 to 76 points
in 2012, based on a scale of 100.
EVRY operates a comprehensive program of competence
development, involving both internal and external courses
and other forms of training. Competence development in-
cludes technical knowledge and skills as well as management
development, and is designed to help our employees to enjoy
greater mobility in their careers in the group, both in terms
of opportunities for horizontal moves and promotion.
For further information on the results in 2012 of our focus on
employees and on health, safety and the working environment,
see the Board of Directors’ report and the company’s website.
Environment and greenhouse gas emissions
EVRY has worked systematically on environmental issues
for a number of years, and recognises that compliance with
the expectations of national, regional and local authorities
wherever the group operates should be seen as the minimum
require¬ment for its environmental commitment. The group
is working on measures to improve its environmental foot-
print at various levels. We are helping to develop solutions
that will create opportunities for society to reduce its envi-
ronmental impact, and we are committed to a continuous
program of work to reduce the group’s own environmen-
tal impact through greater energy efficiency, better waste
management and using electronic communication and other
measures to reduce travel, as well as through a proactive
procurement policy.
It is difficult to manage change successfully if it is not pos-
sible to measure the results achieved over time. Accordingly,
EVRY produced a climate report for the first time in 2012,
which accounted for the company’s greenhouse gas emis-
sions in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
By taking this step, we are now better able to identify the
progress of our energy consumption over time and compare
energy consumption between different locations, as well as
evaluating best practice elsewhere, and accord¬ingly imple-
menting measures that have clear targets and measurable
results.
In addition to helping to improve our environmental
footprint internally, accounting for greenhouse emissions
also makes it possible for us to participate in the Carbon
Disclosure Project (CDP). Investors around the world make
use of CDP as a basis to evaluate how companies are dealing
with climate change challenges. If a company reports poor
results this may make it less attractive as an investment, so
it is important for EVRY to achieve a high CDP score. EVRY
achieved a score of 78 points in 2012 out of a possible 100. We
are satisfied with this score as a company reporting for the
first time, but we will use the score and experience of the
process to improve our performance in the future.
EVRY – To the benefit of society
EVRY benefits society as a whole by creating employment,
paying taxes and duties, distributing dividends to sharehold-
ers and purchasing goods and services from suppliers. Our
fundamental approach is that corporate social responsibility
should be recognised at the operational level in our eve-
ryday activities, and this means that we have a long-term
